About the role
The primary function of the Safety and Wellness Lead is to drive the development and delivery of best work practices to continuously improve the health, safety, wellness, and team culture strategy in alignment with the NZ safety legislation and the current and future needs of POU Limited.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and maintain a strong health, safety, and wellness culture across the POU Limited Team
  • Work collaboratively and collectively with the site leaders and POU Limited leadership team
  • Lead incident investigations, risk reviews, corrective actions, outcomes, and safety and wellness reporting
  • Lead and facilitate training workshops on safe operating procedures, industry-standard updates, health and safety meetings, and site toolbox meetings
  • Monitor and inspect compliance requirements for safe handling and storage of hazardous substances and chemicals
  • Develop and coordinate wellness events such as health screenings or other educational health promotion initiatives
  • Monitor and report on the safety and wellness progression of the Team
  • To contribute to a team culture that creates opportunities for future generations
Skills and Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience or relevant qualifications in health, safety, and wellness practices
  • Understanding of te reo me ona tikanga and a te ao Maaori worldview
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build rapport and relationships
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proven facilitation skills
  • An eye for detail in continuous improvement and quality focus across legislation and people management
This is a salaried position from Monday to Friday on-site predominantly at the Huntly Power Station.
