About the opportunity
Reporting to Sport Waikato’s’ Regional Connectivity Manager you will provide strategic leadership to the South Waikato region’s network of local councils, local sport and recreation organisation and providers. You will be instrumental in guiding the development and implementation of local play, active recreation, and sport plans.

Your day to day will be varied with lots to do for the betterment of your community. As Regional Connectivity Coordinator you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development of the Local Plan and strategy ensuring alignment with regional and district level insights ‘Moving Waikato’.
  • Facilitate workshops with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with South Waikato and Taupō council teams on the Local plan.
  • Keeping up to date with local insights and trends that influence Council play, active recreation and sport planning and strategy.
  • Working across all Sport Waikato business streams to continue development of community sport and recreation.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to key partners and stakeholders.
Skills and experience
Our ideal candidate will bring:
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to communicate to a variety of people from different groups within the community.
  • Experience working in or across local government environments. A knowledge of councils will be extremely advantageous in this role.
  • A love for your community and the desire to get them moving through sport and recreation.
  • Impeccable organisaiton and administration skills for oversight, planning and execution of projects and initiatives.
  • Presentation skills, comfortable to facilitate discussions and workshops to groups of people.
  • Ability to advise and provide strategic direction to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and development.
